Brian Stelter

Brian Stelter (born September 3, 1985 in Damascus, Maryland) is a media reporter for the New York Times and the former editor of the news-related blog TVNewser.com.

Biography

Stelter graduated from Towson University in May 2007 and joined The New York Times as a media reporter in July. TVNewser.com hired a new editor.[1]

On July 26, 2010, Stelter tweeted that Fox (News) had the biggest audience in prime time (for a news channel) but the smallest among African Americans.[2] The story was quickly picked up by many news organizations and blogs.[3][4] Conservative news organizations were quick to point out in response that Stelter's own primary blog, (The New York Times' Media Decoder), suffers from one of the lowest percentage of African-American readers when ranked to comparable media sites.[5][6] In response, Stelter tweeted that it was an irrelevant comparison and accused Fox News PR people of planting news stories.[7][8]
